Leisure centres

The borough’s seven leisure centres offer a wide range of hall, court and pitch hire opportunities.

Online booking is available via the Better website for group exercise classes and badminton courts where available.

The online booking system is currently only available to Leisure Centre members.

Playing fields

For bookings on the artificial pitches at Mile End Stadium and John Orwell Sports Centre please contact the relevant centre, details for which can be found on our leisure facilities page.

Applications for the contractual use of Stepney Green Astro now open.

This is an opportunity for user groups to use the facilities on a contractual agreement. Applications are open to those currently using the facilities and new groups.

The contractual use aims to allocate a weekly slot at the facilities for the period September 2023 to August 2026.  

All currently contracted user groups need to re-apply if they wish to continue with a new contract for the period above.

Tennis facilities in the borough are managed by Premier Tennis. Visit their website to book a court and find more information on tennis playing and coaching opportunities.

Parks

There are numerous basketball, netball and tennis courts located within the borough’s parks.

For most of these facilities, usage is free and there is no need to book except for tennis courts which are operated on a pay-and-play basis.
